About ESOP 2008
The
IOTA-ES
and the observatory
Sternwarte Drebach
cordially invites you to the XXVII. European Symposium on Occultation Projects (ESOP)
from August 29 to 31, 2008.
The conference begins on Friday, August 29, 2008, in the small village of
Drebach
in the vicinity of
Chemnitz
in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge). All participants will be accomodated in a typical country hotel.
In the evening you will have the opportunity to visit the observatory with its telescopes and the
Zeiss - planetarium in an 11m-dome.
The ESOP 2008 is held on Saturday and Sunday in the Zeiss - planetarium. The planetarium built
by Carl Zeiss Jena
is equipped with all multimedia facilities. IOTA-ES is responsible for the scientific conference
program. We will provide the catering for lunches and coffee breaks between the conference sessions as
well as a smooth operational support.
For accompanying persons not willing to participate in the conference sessions in the planetarium
we as well offer a small partner program on Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday, September 1st, 2008, we offer a bus trip to
Dresden, the capital of
Sachsen. We will organize
a visit to the Lohrmann observatory of the Technical University Dresden. In the afternoon we will visit the
Frauenkirche and the
Green Vault.
On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008, we plan to show you the old silver city
Annaberg-Buchholz. We will visit the
Sankt Annenkirche with its historically
valuable wood altar and the
Adam-Ries-Museum.
Thereafter take the opportunity and explore the beauty of the Ore Mountains
(Erzgebirge)
on your own if you wish.
